tricksters_queen: An Amy Brown print I own and love: Euphoria Beautiful piece! (Euphoria)

So, I had a lovely interview last week. Now, I have a (p/t) job! I'm very excited. :D It's a server position at a rather nice restaurant, and it'll only be a couple of shifts a week, and I can keep looking for a full time job, but I'll be out of the house (or bookstore!) for at least a little while each week! Yay!!!

::laughter:: Go figure, though, with my orientation being tomorrow, that I pretty much can't work until the 19th... :p Well, I guess I can work later this week and the first couple of days of next week, but still... I need to have off the 13th-18th because I all ready had stuff planned. The woman who interviewed and hired me said that wasn't a problem at all, but I still feel a little funny about

Whee!!!! Can't wait!!!

Dear Universe:

Sweet Goddess above us, please let this work out!

I have an interview on Tuesday. That's about the extent of what I'm currently willing to say on the matter. ::laughter::

I don't know if it's for full or part time. Right now, so long as they hire me, I don't care. :) Okay, I suppose that's not really true. All the same, for this particular position it would probably be in my best interests for it to be part time. Either way, though, I have the possibility of work.

Please, please, please, let me get this job.

~Me :)
tricksters_queen: The Trickster is happy (Puck pleased)
Oh, I am so pleased!! ::laughter:: My custom made shirt shipped out yesterday!!! SQUEE!! I'm really, stupidly excited. ::laughter::

I am really, crazy happy about this. (It's going to be double posted, because how can I /not/ post something this awesome about Puck on my rogue account?) SQUEE!!! I can't wait to get it!!!!!

ETA: Ahem. Okay, I kind of lied. I had a thought...there's someone who follows my rogue account that I would kind of like to surprise with a gift, so ah, I won't be posting about this on that account. So... here's a link to the shirt I made for myself. I may not be sending a shirt to the person, but, uh, I would like to maintain surprise in the overall. ::sheepish grin::

I'm a Puck girl (and, ya know, who wouldn't be?)!

tricksters_queen: Art by Amy Brown, who is one of my favorite artists (blue fairy)
My computer officially died, which is why I have not been on much at all of late. This effects fb more than this, usually, but still, I can't really post from work for more than a few seconds, so I usually don't bother to post from work at all.

I won't have a new computer until the first week in January, and that's if things go according to plan. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Had a good Christmas/Yule, looking forward to the New Year of 2011.

I'll do a better post after I have acquired my new computer.

Much love!
tricksters_queen: (Oh Romeo!)
My oldest nephew.
You know, the one in the band (of which I have used the band icon!) Oh Romeo!.

Yeah, he's pretty awesome. ::laughter::

He was in the area for Thanksgiving, and I actually had the opportunity to hang out with him a bit over a couple of days, which was just fantastic! (Imagine, if you would, the Doctor's 9th incarnation on the last word there...)

I don't think he'll ever cease to amaze me. He's 24 and built like, gods, I don't even know what. He's cheerful, and chatty, and loves to laugh, he gives awesome hugs. He's working on a plan to "get his life together", and concentrating mostly on his music, but looking to go back to school for Business & Marketing. He's brilliant.

I need to plan a trip to Florida. I'm sure my brother might like to see me, too... ::laughter::
tricksters_queen: (twas a romp)
Okay, a friend of mine from college and her beau got married yesterday, July 31st! It was a fabulous wedding - Greek Orthodox ceremony, with lots of traditional Greek dances at the reception! My friend's dress was Gorgeous!! ::laughter:: She went with a white dress that had stunning red accents. It was amazing! I have a few pictures, but I can't wait to see everyone else's. ::laughter:: I know people who are better photographers than I am.
Totally, though. The wedding t'was a romp indeed!!!

One of the true bonuses for me is the facts that my friends from college not only know and accept how insane I am... most of them are nearly as crazy themselves in some way or another. The bride and groom, and many of my college friends had the opportunity to meet The Puck (Plushie) on July 4th when so many of us were able to get together. Some of them totally fell in love with him. So... I took him to the wedding yesterday. The reception, anyway. ::laughter:: And there are a surprising number of pictures with him in them. Including the professional photographer's shot of the UD Crew...well, one of the shots he took of us all. :) I can't WAIT to see how that one came out! It's terribly exciting. And insane. And fun.

It was just so great to see everyone again! I have to make it to MLK in 2011, I really just do. And I also really need to make it out to the west coast and visit friends I have out there. Naturally, Puck has to go. Puck has to go everywhere interesting I go ever again. ::laughter:: I can't wait to get to Ireland now... ;)

The Greek Orthodox ceremony is, by the way, really interesting! I loved listening to another language, the fact that everything is done 3 times to represent the Holy Trinity, and most certainly the crowning of the couple. I may have a soft spot for crowns... ::laughter:: But anyway. Then at the reception, there was traditional Greek dancing! Which is a blast, if somewhat more difficult to pick up than I would have guessed.

Oh, gosh, I just had so much fun!!!! It was a lovely ceremony, and the reception was a blast, and I got to see so many of my friends from college. The Artist's maid of honor speech was really touching, and got several of us to start tearing up. It's been kind of traditional (possibly by accident) to mention at our weddings that the UD Crew IS in fact family. Oddly, my dad was really the one to start that, at my wedding. But it's so true. Family is not just blood, certainly not any more. The better part of 3-4 years of my life were spent with these people. I didn't just want them at my wedding - I needed them to be there. Apparently, they all feel pretty much the same. There has been some major distance-traveling over the last 3 years with the weddings we've shared with the group so far. I can't wait to see what other adventures we'll all have together in the future.

I am incredibly blessed. I always have been, with friends/family. :)

Okay, and I'm about to get WAY too mushy, so I'm going to stop now. The wedding was amazing. 'Nuff said.

So it's totally "one of those days" at work right now. ::laughter:: I mean, nothing bad has happened. In fact, it's practically a completely normal Tuesday work day.

I'm working open to close, as usual.
It's a little slow, as usual.
I've gotten some writing done, as usual.
It's nearly time for me to go to lunch, as usual.
I'm in a good mood, as usual.

So, yeah. Totally one of those days.

I'm a little hungry, but not too worried about it. I have a huge chicken-strip sandwich waiting for me. And chai - a large today, because I have free ones saved up. :) It's raining out, which I don't mind since I'm:
a) not out in it
b) it helps me with my writing for some reason.

Dark and Stormy Knights is out today, which has a Dresden Files short story in it (Woot! Jim Butcher!), so I'm hoping to check that out on my break. :) All in all, life is good. I think... think I might be close to done with the random fanfic story. Which is also good. I'm completely running out of pages in the notebook it's in, and I have no desire whatsoever to start a fresh notebook with this silliness, fun though it may be.

A little sugar, and life will be sweet. :)

My Memorial Day Weekend started on Thursday. ::laughter:: Not that I didn't have to work, I did. But still, my adventures began on Thursday, so my Memorial Day Weekend began on Thursday.

Thursday, May 27th - Imogen Heap Concert!
So I switched shifts with my co-worker so that I was out at 4:30. Got home, got some food, and changed into jeans, then headed over to Steven's place. Apparently, a little early, at that - I showed up closer to 6:30 than 7pm because I thought that the traffic would be worse than it turned out to be! Around 7, we headed out, with Alice (my GPS system) as a guide. :) I was clever enough to purchase an Imogen Heap shirt before the concert began, and it made me bouncy.
Though Steve and I agreed that we actually preferred the people who opened for her at the last concert we'd been to (Back Ted-N-Ted, Tim Exile), Geese and Ben Christophers certainly made for an interesting concert when they were on stage with Imogen. Their music did seem to compliment hers, and it was really awesome! Happily, she did the song "Speeding Cars" & "Say Goodnight & Go", which are personal favorites of mine. "Bad Body Double" was a lot of fun, too - I think that song is hilarious!
I got home around almost 1am because Steve and I were too busy talking when we got back. ::laughter:: Oh, and it was so worth it! Really should try to go out to dinner with him again sometime soon...

Friday, May 28th - Borders Crew!
So, Friday is my usual hang-out with my friends from the bookstore, which is always fun, no matter what we do. The original plan was to do a movie night, but that kind of fell through. We've been working on incorporating Lauren from the Cafe into our little group, and she actually came OUT with us (as apposed to having us over to her place)!! It was very exciting. :) However, we were 2 short of our number, no Logan and no Bethany. :( Still, Paul, Jason & I headed to Denny's to meet up with Lauren for dinner. It was just... very early. ::laughter:: I was really hyped, which is fairly usual for me... and I informed my friends that I my friend Sara was making me a crochet Puck doll, which we (naturally) had to call a Puck Plushie. I've wanted a Puck doll for SO long... ::laughter:: It's terribly exciting!
Anyway. We ate stuff, and chatted, and generally had a good time... and then we figured we should probably leave to open up our table for other people. ::laughter::
I was far too awake to go home, though, because it was still too early... we wound up walking around the parking lot a few times and talking more. I discovered that too many of them have not seen essential movies, which I have now vowed to fix. ::laughter::

Saturday, May 29th - A Midsummer Night's Dream!
A production of my favorite play was put on by The Wilmington Drama League, and it was absolutely amazing! :D I couldn't have been more pleased - and it didn't hurt that I knew Danielle and Andrew in the cast! Amazing job, seriously. The audience was laughing throughout, which is exactly as it should be! The gentleman who played Puck (Brian Elam) was absolutely fantastic - highly energetic, got both the light and dark sides of the character, and played up flirting with Titania's fairies! Brilliant! And, naturally, he got the most laughs from the audience - Puck always does.
The costuming was great (Danielle looked seriously awesome as Titania, and did an amazing job! Andrew's hair was salt-and-peppered so he'd look older, and he was a fantastic Bottom! I would have adored just about anything Brian was wearing as Puck, let's be honest - but his boots were very cool.), and the production was just... it blew me away! I can't say enough good stuff about it! <3 I met Brian after the show, and he quite possibly thought I was completely nuts, but I was so hyper... ::laughter:: Obsessive, I am. I flatly told him that Puck is my favorite literary character of all time (which is no exaggeration, as anyone who knows me can attest...), and that he completely nailed his part. I shook his hand, and got a picture taken with him. Yep, Brian probably thinks I'm a complete nutcase. Hopefully he got a kick out of my enthusiasm, though...

Sunday, May 30th - I Can Haz Family?
I accompanied Bethany and her mom to a family get-together where I was promptly fed lots of food. ::laughter:: I had a good time, and mostly got to hang out with B anyway. :) After a few hours, we actually headed into Wildwood and wandered about the boardwalk, which was entertaining. Admittedly, there were FAR too many people for me, but all in all, I didn't mind as much as I could have. ::laughter:: We stopped in a fudge shoppe and I picked up some candy (yay, candy!), I ate some boardwalk fries (yum!), and on the way back to the car, I spent my last $2 (in cash) on cotton candy! We spent the night, had breakfast the next morning, chatted for a bit, then headed back home!

Monday, May 31st - Home Again!
I got home around 1 in the afternoon Monday. :) I spent time after that watching the entire series of Paranoia Agent. Which was fun, odd, and interesting. I liked it! ::laughter::
That really was it, for Monday, honestly. ::laughter:: I recouped from the rest of my weekend, and prepared myself to go back to work on Tuesday... :)
tricksters_queen: (twas a romp)
Ha! I didn't have an opportunity to write all about the Adventure Wednesday last week at all. But I am on vacation this week, and as today is my regular day off anyway, here I am. :D

Oh, t'was a romp indeed! ::laughter:: Together with The Chef and The Sociopath, to NYC I traveled! It was, in fact, an adventure. ::grins:: We drove past the train station, and since it was in NJ, turning around meant we couldn't get in, so we had to turn around AGAIN... ::laughter:: Oh yeah. That was fun. ;) We got to listen to really cool music, courtesy of The Chef, because he is just awesome like that. We chatted and laughed and generally had a good time.

Then we tried to figure out where to buy our train tickets since the booth was closed. They have a machine where you can get them. No one listens to me. ::laughter:: But I got them over to it eventually, and we purchased tickets for the NYC train, round trip! We were there just in time, too. If we'd been any later, we would have needed to catch the next train, which would have meant waiting around for about forty minutes...instead of the five we managed. :) The train ride was entertaining, if uneventful. (I'm okay with uneventful, let me tell you!) And, as an important piece of information for next time, I need to take snacks with me for the train. I was famished by the time we got to NYC!

We arrived and hopped off the train. Perhaps not literally, but you get the idea. ;) Immediately, I stopped at the first place that had palatable food and nabbed a cheese danish for myself so that I didn't kill my friends. Smart move. :) We then found that Krispy Kreme does in fact still live in states that are not DE. Which would have been awesome, except that they didn't have any of their original glazed for me. From there, we headed out of the station and found Broadway.

Honestly, most of the rest of the day was walking. We walked most of Broadway and headed to Balthazar's for our dinner reservation. Never mind that we had nearly 3 hours to get there. We wanted to be quite sure we weren't going to miss out! ::laughter:: We eventually found the place, and since we were early, but also hungry, we stepped inside. They were able to seat us for lunch instead, so that is what we did! We missed out on escargot because of it, but all in all, it was brilliant. The food was fan-frelling-tastic! ::smacks lips:: We all had duck in some variety or another. It was lovely.

After lunch we made our way back to the train station. It had decided to start raining, but it wasn't so bad. For a cat like myself, I did rather well in the "not complaining" department. ::laughter:: The Chef was so proud of me. :p We stopped in The Strand and took a look around for a bit. HUGE bookstore. I think we should go back to NYC at some point just to spend the day there. So many books... ::laughter:: When we left there the rain had slowed some, which was nice. Our next stop was into an Au Bon Pain, a bakery that I first saw when I went to Boston for the first time. We hopped in to get out of the rain again for a few minutes, and there was a very friendly man behind the counter who made me a decaf vanilla latte and gave us little cups for free soup samples, which rocked. VERY good soup! We sat there for a little bit while we finished our free samples (they were really hot), and then decided it was time to be on our way once more. This time, the rain had practically stopped entirely. That was awesome.

We made it back to the train station in one piece, and found that we had once again been quite brilliant with our timing. Yay! Express train back to our stop! We climbed on board to begin our ride home. Our ride home was much more least for me, because I was fairly tired. ::laughter:: We got lost in a very small town because I needed to use the restroom, but I got really good Edy's ice cream out of it. It was less bad than it could have been, but the signs all lied about where to go! ::laughter:: We made it back to the book store around 11 or so. It was a fabulous day with fabulous company! :D
